The Coffea Clay 2013 by Les Argilieres HINS at Saint Aubain, Belgium
The Coffea Clay is a black clay after fired at +1150 deg Celsius. It is produced by the Argilieres HINS at Saint Aubain in Belgium. They kindly asked me to provide them with a feedback about my feeling for that brand new mix.
That clay is smooth, sandy and obviously very gentle to be throwed on the potter's wheel. I succeeded to throw at the start a couple of vase from +68 cm up to +90 cm by sections.
I still have to fired some samples and tiles and also to test how various slips can stick onto the surface. For sure it's a great new clay type and I am sure it will please lot of potters and ceramists who are looking more on the shape than on the decoration possibilities. It's a clay that would be nice enough as naked.
